I’ve taught zine making to kids for nearly a decade in a wide variety of settings! When I was 18 years old, I developed a ten-week zine-making summer camp curriculum geared towards middle school students. Since then, children from kindergarten through 12th grade have participated in my zine classes and I’ll be leading my first workshop for adults this summer.
Zines are rad because they invite people to express themselves and made their voices heard, entirely on their own terms. Their fluid form is powerful and I’ve implemented film and digital photography, comic making, screen printing, and basic composition as tools for zinesters to create their art. When not teaching others how make zines, I make my own.
