DJ MAMI MIAMI
DJ Mami Miami, AKA Chicana writer Emilly Prado, dreams of nights spent hips swaying in international multi-story discotecas. These days, she gets dance floors moving in Portland, Oregon and beyond as one-part of Noche Libre, the Latinx DJ collective she co-founded in 2017. As the former co-host of a hybrid talk/music show on community radio station XRAY FM, DJ Mami Miami selected a wide variety of genres from Andean cumbias and hip-hop to 1960s oldies, 80’s new wave, and Puerto Rican punk rock. Her sets are always mood-driven, but she specializes in spinning jams pa’ perreando. Emilly brings five years of experience and a love for gigs of all kinds to her work whether supporting a wedding, corporate event, art gallery, quinceañera, or birthday parties for guests of all ages. Some of her favorite past events include the Woodburn Fiesta Mexicana, PICA’s TBA, a pink cowboy-themed 13th birthday party with YouTube karaoke, the PDX airport (twice!), silent discos, and support for performers like Bells Atlas, FUPU, Lido Pimienta, Makaya McCraven, Parisalexa, Sa-roc, SassyBlack, Sávila, Y La Bamba, and more. See past mixes on her Soundcloud and select playlists on her Spotify.
It is always a pleasure to work with Emilly. She’s responsive, has great ideas, and goes with the flow. We’ve used her many times over the last 4+ years for corporate events and will continue to use her in the future. Her musical suggestions are always on point and add to the overall vibe of our events. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an amazing DJ who always delivers!

I also love love. And I love DJing weddings.
Your wedding deserves the perfect vibe for you and your guests. Just as your love story is unique, so should be the selection of tracks. As a DJ with a wide range of tastes and niches, I’ve had the joy of curating highly personalized mixes for my couples, traditional and non-traditional alike, and MCing for over 5 years. As a 2024 bride myself, I also know firsthand how many moving parts must align to make your day spectacular, and I’m honored to work alongside each couple to keep the energy and day flowing effortlessly, and to be a key part of your team to ensure the day is as timely and stress-free as can be.

“Music was one of the top priorities for my wedding so I did a lot of searching for local DJ’s to find someone to accommodate my music taste, from freestyle, to kpop. From the beginning, Emilly was so easy to work with. She provided such a detailed form and even took the time to go over it with me. She perfectly tailored my wedding playlist to exactly what I wanted. I sincerely recommend Emilly for anyone looking for a DJ for their wedding or special event. She is not only a great DJ, but so down to earth and sweet. Thank you again for everything! You made our wedding just as we imagined it to be.” —Leslie, wedding client 2024. “I’ve experienced Emilly Prado’s energetic and vibrant DJ sets in both nightlife/club environments as well as through parties, programs, and special events at PICA, where I am an artistic director and curator. Sometimes these have been solo sets, other times with their Noche Libre Latinx femme DJ collective. Without fail, Emilly has made everyone in the room feel a collective energy, to move and sweat in ways that are life-giving and connect us to global sounds and musics you don’t always hear in Portland. Working with Emilly has always been a pleasure. She is incredibly organized, communicative, and easy to collaborate with. She is adaptable and flexible while also knowing what works well for them and the space they’ll be in. It is a joy to work with her!”
“We needed a DJ who could take our vision and run with it. Emilly asked the right questions, was graceful and patient with our process, and she got excited about the SHIFT event along with us! We’ve gotten great feedback about the joyful and energetic auditory landscape she brought. Would love to work with her again.”
“I’ve worked with Emilly on a few occasions, hiring her as a DJ for corporate events. In all instances, Emilly was great to work with–very detailed in advance of the event with good communications–and came prepared with unique music that fit each of the client’s needs.”

I am a Chicana mother of a Chicana daughter who wanted a quinceañera. It was important to me that this cultural coming-of-age event be nothing short than full-on empowering to my daughter. Emilly was on-point knowing all the classics songs for this type of event. She understood that you are really playing for two crowds: the adults and the youth. And she navigated this beautifully. She also served as an MC. I am so grateful to Emilly to helping us make this the perfect night for our family!
